About Elise
I’m a nurse. An exercise lover. A whole foods connoisseur. A health enthusiast. And I have IBS. No need to cue the sappy violin music yet...
I’ve found that eating a mostly plant-based diet has allowed me to continue to live and love life to the fullest. Although moderation isn’t something I do well, I’m 100% devoted to giving my body pure, wholesome, quality food. Nutritious and delicious, all the time.
Hungry Hungry Hippie is a way for me to share my daily dealings with food, fitness, and everything in between.
Here’s how the day started…COFFEE!!!After that, I was enjoying my day off doing a whole bunch of NADA 🙂 Then I decided to make some lunch before heading to the gym (it was 1 pm after all…). So I decided to go with a new twist on an old fav. Smart deli soy bacon, egg beaters, and ff Chobani greek yogurt all in a pita pocket! These whole wheat pitas are the cutest things! It was so good. The box for the smart deli soy bacon looks different, but it is the same thing. Here’s the… Read more >

I woke up to my alarm, but the good news is that I could roll over and turn it off because I finally had a day off today. After my run of 3 days in a row, I could hardly move today. All my joints hurt. Every muscle ached. I really just wanted to stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, that tends to mess up my sleeping schedule beyond repair, and since I don’t enjoy tossing and turning until 4 am trying to fall asleep I now have just given in to the fact that… Read more >

Beyonce MUST have been referring to soy lattes when she wrote that song. I am obsessed! I can’t even put into words what has happened to me these past few days since Starbucks introduced me to the soy milk latte.1) I don’t know what took me so long to try this…considering I am lactose intolerant, it is really a bit overdue of a revelation.2) I am embarrassed to share this, but I have gotten 4-5 iced or hot soy lattes a day for the past Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. It is only a work thing,… Read more >

Here is the latest healthy addition to my life. Fake sugars scare me because of all the chemicals…that just can’t be good for people to eat, right? I found Stevia, FINALLY!! This stuff is great. It is derived from a plant found in Paraguay, and other countries have been using it forever, but for some unknown reason it is not FDA approved. Who knows why…it is known for it’s antimicrobial properties and it is natural and has no calories. So hooray for finally getting it (it is definitely NOT cheap though). So anyways, I am now… Read more >

Well, it was a sad day for the pac 10 (except U$C). In fact, all aspects of today were kinda blah. My stomach was killing me from the moment I opened my eyes and rain clouds were threatening to pour a mother load all day long. Anyways, moving on…Kyle had his Saturday mentor date this morning, so I took my time getting up. I started the day off with a nice steamy Sbucks ff Lactaid latte/misto (also some ff Vanilla creamer). Then I hit up the gym for a so-so work out. I did elliptical… Read more >
