Green eating

Carbon footprint of a bowl of cereal? I came upon this article the other day. It is really interesting and discusses the impact we have on the environment, not just in the obvious aspects of our lives (driving SUVs, etc.) but in areas we hardly think about – our food choices. Local or imported? Conventional or organic? Can we make choices that will keep our diets healthy and reduce our carbon footprint? Is it possible to eat green? Does it even matter? The idea that the carbon footprint of a bowl of cereal is equivalent… Read more >

yesterday repeat

So basically today was the same as yesterday. Same mixed feelings regarding working on the weekend. Same Bruno’s coffee to get me moving at the crack of dawn. Same-ish sandwich at lunch (since the A street bread was finished I used some of K’s regular whole wheat). I had the Berries GoMega odwalla bar around 11, along with several glasses of apple juice…and got around to my lunch break a few hours later. I stopped at Bruno’s for my AM coffee and then the day began…and flew by. I really wasn’t looking forward to working the weekend, but as it turns out, it was a great day! I got my same patients back, which is always nice… Read more >

i heart Bruno’s

First of all, check out this BOMB shopping trip (I stocked up on the odwalla bars – mmmm). These are such great snacks because they aren’t too filling, but are still healthy and yum. Second of all, I feel as though Bruno’s Ravioli deserves a may-jah shout out considering I go there EVERY day I work. They have the best coffee (that also happens to be cheaper than starbucks) and their salads, sandwiches, and soups are to-DIE-for delicious. Everyone that goes there falls in love, and that’s not an exaggeration. So of course today was… Read more >

fat and lazy

Gym? What’s that? So I’ve been reallllly milking the sick excuse. I can’t even remember my last work out. After this next stretch of 3 shifts in a row (Fri, Sat, Sun) I am SO getting back on the horse. I slept in again today and I woke up feeling so much better. I think I found the way to get over a cold – tea, rest, repeat (yeah, I’m a nurse). Froth. Caffeine. SoY latte goodness. Keeping with the extra-calories-to-cure-me theme…I had a rather large breakfast again this morning (for a non-bfast person). Above… Read more >
