About Elise
I’m a nurse. An exercise lover. A whole foods connoisseur. A health enthusiast. And I have IBS. No need to cue the sappy violin music yet...
I’ve found that eating a mostly plant-based diet has allowed me to continue to live and love life to the fullest. Although moderation isn’t something I do well, I’m 100% devoted to giving my body pure, wholesome, quality food. Nutritious and delicious, all the time.
Hungry Hungry Hippie is a way for me to share my daily dealings with food, fitness, and everything in between.
Up at 5. Out the door in under 30. Not a record, but not too shabby either. I got to downtown way earlier than usual, so the bucks wasn’t open yet (eek!)…good thing I had Bruno’s to the rescue. I’ve raved before, so my love for this tiny place is no secret, a small steamy coffee turned that frown upside down 🙂 Here’s my latest read. I heart David Sedaris! Makes the loss of express trains on the weekends somewhat tolerable. I managed to avoid the local trains today, so all was good. Anyways, I… Read more >

I love summer Fridays because Kyle has half days…that said, it’s useless when the weather is this crappy. Nothing but gray skies and pitter patter all day long. Boo hoo. Coffee – check! Kyle was a little noisy this morning, so I was up early (read: too early)…which is why coffee was froth-ified and breakfast was on the GRANDE side (as far as AM eating goes). I was craving fruit in a may-jerrrrrr way, so in addition to the plate heaped with pineapple, watermelon, strawberries, and grapes, I had a blueberry Chobz with raisins. Hit.the.spot…. Read more >

Even though I had today off of work, I still had to set my alarm because I had an appointment. So I was up and at em with the roosters pigeons (?), which was kinda nice because I rarely get to see my K love in the AM. He made a massive pot of java, which I had with minimal frills (I was lazy and didn’t feel like frothing). Crossword & coffee makes E a happy hippie 🙂 Yesterday’s oats were so bomb.com that I decided to repeat the morning routine. This time I went… Read more >

Did you know Wednesday was National Running Day!? Step aside hump day, you have been replaced. Good thing I had the day off work, so I could get a nice exercise sesh in (in honor of the holiday, of course). No work = extra zzzzs. So I definitely slept in. YES! As I sipped my frothy coffee, I caught up on all the critical news (like the happs in J+K+8 and the crazies from the Jerz) – I’m soooo worldly. I went old school with breakfast…oats were my first love, and no amount of time… Read more >

A bowl of cherries!!! We may have a problem on our hands. Synergy has created an addict of me. I’ve heard rumors of home-made Kombucha in the blogosphere, so I’ve got some research on my to-do list… I digress. I woke up effing early Tuesday morning (4:30 am) before work to do some stretching and rise & shine yoga. Which as you can see, ended up in some AM nibbling in the form of cherries and superfruits kombucha. I’m 3 for 3 on flavors. It’s luuuuuurve. I also ADORE summer fruits, so you can… Read more >
