About Elise
I’m a nurse. An exercise lover. A whole foods connoisseur. A health enthusiast. And I have IBS. No need to cue the sappy violin music yet...
I’ve found that eating a mostly plant-based diet has allowed me to continue to live and love life to the fullest. Although moderation isn’t something I do well, I’m 100% devoted to giving my body pure, wholesome, quality food. Nutritious and delicious, all the time.
Hungry Hungry Hippie is a way for me to share my daily dealings with food, fitness, and everything in between.
The storm warnings on every media outlet… The closing of all NYC public schools… Yes, there were several red flags that should have clued me into the fact that this Wednesday would be far worse than the average hump day. But I’m never one to heed warning signs (that or I’m too dense optimistic to let them get to me…). Exhibit A: Favorite stila eye shadow smashed to pieces This photo was not taken at the time of the crime (4:45 am) but rather at 8 pm, after I returned home from an insane 14… Read more >

Thanks to my whole foods gift card, I was able to replenish my NuNaturals stevia… This frothy treat is coffee with coconut milk, cinnamon, and NuNaturals. Luff. Brunch was a bit unconventional…I felt like grilled cheese, so I got crafty and mashed together extra firm Nasoya tofu and nutritional yeast. It looks kinda bizarre, but tasted yum-may. Currently there is a pretty bomb deal going on at Whole Foods with Steaz (when you buy a 4-pack you get another for free), so obviously I went for it. My sweet tooth took over for the rest… Read more >

Don’t mistake the ornament mug for my embrace or acceptance of winter… Even though it was “sunny” over the weekend, it was still below freezing, and as much as I love running in races, 4 miles in Central Park just didn’t seem worth the misery of losing feeling in my fingers, toes, nose, ears, etc. Instead I slept in and spent time with Kyle…sorta. He actually had to work all weekend, which sucked since it was my weekend OFF of work. At least he was working from home? (that is definitely the only positive I… Read more >

My appetite was a monster the other day. Not a little monster either, a BIG a$$ monster. I didn’t have work, so I let myself sleep in a bit, but once my alarm went off at 8, my stomach was growling like an overly-protective Rottweiler. That’s not typical for me. My stomach usually needs a few minutes (or an hour) to warm up to the idea of calories. If you know me, you know I’m not a morning person, but my stomach is even less so. Ordinarily I ease it in with coffee…today, though, I… Read more >

After my sophisticated breakfast of an apple and frothy cup of coffee, I headed to the dentist’s office for a routine cleaning. Since I was in midtown, I met up with Kyle after my appointment to show off my sparkling new pearly whites. I owe my cavity free chompers to these babies. Kyle and I went for a little stroll before he returned to work. Entering through Artisan’s Gate (Central Park South and 7th Ave)… A crossroads in The Park (if there’s ever a park to be capitalized and deemed “THE” park, it should be… Read more >
