I’m a nurse. An exercise lover. A whole foods connoisseur. A health enthusiast. And I have IBS. No need to cue the sappy violin music yet... I’ve found that eating a mostly plant-based diet has allowed me to continue to live and love life to the fullest. Although moderation isn’t something I do well, I’m 100% devoted to giving my body pure, wholesome, quality food. Nutritious and delicious, all the time. No seriously. She has never let me down; not once. I love her recipes so much that her cookbook, Clean Food, was the only one that escaped a 3 month hibernation (in a So Cal storage facility). Everything else was packed up in NYC, shipped off to a remote location in LA, and has been waiting for us to move into our new Santa Monica apartment…but I just couldn’t part with this one. Blackberries and apricots

When you have no job and summer fruit aplenty… I’d say it’s pie time we do some baking! [har har har] In this case, an apricot/blackberry crisp was on the menu. *Note: to make this recipe vegan, substitutions are indicated in parenthesis (ie exchange the butter for Earth Balance and the brown sugar for turbinado sugar). Being an aunt is fun…

The brown version

Can you tell I’ve been behind on my reviews? Last time I enlisted the help from my fam in consuming Nature’s Pride Country White bun. Now it’s time for the brown buns. How ‘bout them apples?

Apple-a-holics anonymous meetings should not be held anywhere near Washington. They should be held far far away. I’ve been quite the produce whore lover up here in the Evergreen State…but rather than list off each fruit and vegetable like I’m talking to my niece…how about a photo montage? Yes? Ok.
