This was WAY harder than I anticipated. I consider myself semi-OCD when it comes to planning ahead, but this challenge required immense foresight. When certain things weren’t available at the store, I was forced to adapt quickly. There were so many times that I got home from work exhausted and had no energy to make anything (let alone make it presentable for the blog). These are the meals that usually evade the camera. Unfortunately (slash fortunately), I had a letter schedule to keep this month. Any other month I would’ve taken the easy route and avoided cooking altogether…turning to my ever constant backup meal of [fill in the blank food] with hummus. Alphebruary forced me to push myself though. Sometimes I hated it, but in the end, I was glad to have the motivation to try new things.
Here’s a recap of how it all went down. [Note: a few meals didn’t make the cut for whatever reason, and some I still haven’t quite gotten around to sharing]
A – arame
B – barley
C – cashew "cheese"
D – durum wheat macaroni
E – eggplant fries
F – falafel
G – garbanzo flour
H – hemp
I – Israeli couscous
J – jicama
K – kelp noodles
L – lentil loaf
M – monsoon
N – nooch
O – oat flour
P – pudding [not worth posting, recipe needs tweaking (see below – yikes)]
Q – quinoa granola
R – roast (Field Roast) [review to come]
S – spaghetti squash
T – toast, French [cheating?, I don’t care]
U – Udi’s pizza
V – vanilla pudding [my 2nd attempt at the aforementioned pudding]
W – Wilshire Restaurant
X – xanthan gum
Y – yam
Z – zucchini pasta
So there you have it! An entire month of alphabet eats…whew!
