I haven’t shared as much about my little guy’s allergies lately but that’s because (a) not much has changed and (b) I’m trying to stay semi-private while still offering any help I can to other moms in the same situation.
I still email companies on a regular basis, though, inquiring about their products and the facilities where they are processed to try to increase my list of store bought items that are safe, so here’s the latest:
Dear Elise:
Thank you for taking the time to contact Annie’s Naturals. You asked in your email if the Ketchup is made at a peanut free facility. The ketchup is made at a peanut free facility. The ingredient statement is the best source in determining what is in the product. If you are allergic or sensitive to certain foods or ingredients, you should always carefully read the ingredient statement and any allergen statements to ensure the product does not contain ingredients of concern to you.
For more information on nut allergens please visit our web page at: http://www.annies.com/faq
Annie’s Naturals always fully discloses all ingredients on the ingredient statement and are happy to answer any questions that will help consumers decide what products they can safely consume due to dietary restrictions.
Thanks again for contacting us. We hope that you will continue to enjoy Annie’s Naturals products.
Best regards,
Lyn

So hooray for Annie’s ketchup…not that P actually likes it, but in the future he may come around…I haven’t asked about their other condiments, yet.
Next up, Columbus deli products (available at Trader Joe’s and Costco, among other places).
Dear Elise:
Thank you for contacting Columbus regarding your purchase of Sliced Deli Meats.
We do make our Mortadella with Pistachio nuts in our facility and it is made on the same line as our salame products. Our deli meats are made in the same facility as well. To avoid cross contamination, we make our Mortadella with Pistachio nuts at the end of the day which allows for all of our equipment to be fully sanitized and cleaned.
We appreciate you taking the time to contact us.
Sincerely,

Another fully transparent response from a company! So fabulous. Unfortunately I am not willing to risk it, despite the careful cleaning I’m sure they do. But if your child has a peanut allergy alone (not tree nuts), this would be a safe option.
Next is my response from Pacific, who I contacted about their soups and hemp milk.
Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us and share your thoughts.
We love hearing from our customers. We are a peanut free facility but we do process tree nuts and sesame. We clean the line following a 5 step process between each product and swab for allergens. However, we are not a tree nut or sesame free facility. At Pacific Natural Foods we believe nature, pure and simple, just tastes better.
Since 1987, we’ve been striving to deliver the delicious tastes out of what nature has already provided, keeping recipes simple and capturing the full flavor of ingredients when flavors are at their peak.
Back then we started out making soymilk, and now we have a full line of natural and organic products ranging from soups and broths to non-dairy beverages and pot pies!
It is the feedback that we receive from our customers that makes our work here so satisfying and we truly appreciate it.Please feel free to contact us with any questions or comments at any time. Have a wonderful day!
Kind regards,

Bummer for P, but still an option for those with peanut allergies alone.
