I’m home!
The last 48 hours have been so crazy. Moving = complete whirlwind.
We drove down to LA on Monday (I lead the way in our Civic, while Kyle brought up the rear in our rental cargo van).
At least this time I had pre-packed my food.
Hummus + raw zucchini slices + spinach + ‘shrooms + sourdough
Hard to eat while driving. I know there are no cell phones allowed on the road, but I think grubbing is way more distracting. At least for me. I’m a very focused eater 😉
I hit a big milestone on the road.
Don’t photograph while driving. It’s not so safe.
This has been one travel-filled break from the NYC chaos, huh? But back to moving day(s)…
We spent all Monday evening unpacking the cargo van, and then on Tuesday all our stuff from NYC (that’s been in storage for the past 3 months) arrived.
Picture this times 64. I know the exact count because we had to check off every number as they unloaded…plus our couch, flat screen TV, bed, and shelving unit.
But look! I have a kitchen! With space!
And a dishwasher!
I’m thrilled to now officially call Santa Monica home sweet home.
And it’s never felt sweeter.
I could go on and on…showing you every single room (yes, we actually have multiple rooms!)…but before I can show you all that…
I need to write thank you cards for all the gifts that made my dream kitchen possible. My mom raised me with the rule that my thank-you cards had to be written before I got to play with my new toys…well, yesterday’s Barbie dolls are today’s blenders. As much as I want to play with my new toys, and show you all the cool things they do, I am going to make my mom proud and get pen to paper first.
So bare with me as I get my life settled and then I’ll show you enough photos to make you wish you were my neighbor nauseous.
Congrats on the new place! I was raised the same way: Thank you notes go out pronto. 🙂
Ooo nice space! I bet it’s bigger than anything you had in NYC.
Glad you made it safely! Way to think ahead and pack your meals–I could take a few tips from you…
So I haven’t commented in lightyears, but have been following faithfully through this awesome summer. Congrats on everything! I’m excited for you and kyle, and have LOVED all the posts…so fun! And the kitchen/apt look grand.
Thank yous are def a must; always had to do them, too, and now its something I (try to) never forego.
Congrats on the new place – looks awesome!!
Elise! I am so happy for you! Your new place looks ADORABLE, and so spacious!
Oh, the boxes….I do not envy you there! But it will all be worth it when you get your dream place all set up 🙂 Welcome home!
Ahh so excited for you! Moving into a new place that feels like home is such an incredible feeling. Your apartment looks GREAT and I cannot believe how many boxes you have!! Aye carumba.
Happy settling!
It must feel great to finally get settled in to your new home. Congrats! It looks really nice from the photos so far, can’t wait to see more. 🙂
Welcome home! I agree about the eating and driving thing. It’s not fair that I can’t Tweet but I can eat.
Totally agreed about eating, i usually try to wait until i can relax and enjoy my sandwich without drifting lanes… 🙂 So happy for both of you! Do i spy my blender on your shelf? It is a great blender! If it’s new, you will love it. If it is not new and you’ve had it for awhile, disregard, haha.
Congrats and welcome home!! I know how much moving sucks, but I also know how good it feels once you are all unpacked and settled in 🙂 Your new place looks gorgeous and I am glad you got some nice gifts…was that a juicer I saw?!?
Courtney
yay! exciting new place. that’s a brilliant lesson from the momma. then you will always be grateful for the gifts you’re given! i’m gonna put that into effect 🙂
oh. my. geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee you have a HOME!!!!!!!!!!!! and a dishwasher and a BIG refridgerator!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i’m so pumped for you.
De-lurking here!
Congrats on the new home! I looks lovely. I am jealous of your dishwasher. I wish we had a dishwasher, unfortunately Vancouver rents are so expensive that we had to chose between living in a basement with 6′ foot ceilings (the boyfriend is 6’4, it was not going to work) and a dishwasher. We picked the place with 9 foot ceilings and no dishwasher :).
Can’t wait to see more pictures.
Congrats on your new abode!
Is it sappy that I totally have tears in my eyes cuz I’m so happy you’re home?
p.s. job well done on the speedometer…haha
