I did quite a bit of research prior to heading to South America and since other readers are about to embark on a similar vacation, here are some of the veg friendly restaurant options I found. The starred ones (*) are the places we ate.
Fine Dining
Bio – Macrobiotic, Vegetarian/Vegan (http://www.biorestaurant.com.ar/) *
Kensho – Natural Food (http://kensho.com.ar/)
Oviedo – Mediterranean (www.oviedoresto.com.ar)
Tandoor – Indian (www.tandoor.com.ar)
Quimbombo – Natural Food (www.quimbombo.com.ar) *
Casa Felix – Vegetarian/Pescatarian (http://www.colectivofelix.com/) – need to email for reservations in advance
Mott – Chic Argentinean (http://bit.ly/pvCaZO) *
Mama Racha – International (http://mamarachamundobar.blogspot.com/) *
These are good options for groups that have many different dietary preferences as they have menus that can accommodate various palates. Obviously they are more “health food” focused, but they are still very nice restaurants with good food.
Juana M – Steakhouse (http://bit.ly/zv9O5k) *
I know what you’re thinking. Did she really just recommend a steakhouse? Yes, I did, now let me explain. If you’re going to Argentina, it is most likely you are with company that is interested in trying one of the millions of parrillas (it’s what the country is known for after all). Juana M came highly recommended for both it’s meat dishes and it’s salad bar.
This wound up being one of my favorite meals. Whether you are vegan, vegetarian, or flexitarian, if you are looking for a delicious and cheap meal you must go to Juana M. Kyle seconds the vote.

Truthfully, I could go on and on about the Palermo district…I absolutely loved it. I could have shopped and dined within those twenty blocks for a month straight and never gotten sick of it. It’s just so cute! The area is divided into Palermo SoHo and Palermo Hollywood due to similarities to each of those neighborhoods in the States. The SoHo comparison is pretty accurate. Trendy, funky, and fun.
