I’ve made pancakes more than oats this week. And if you don’t understand how huge that is, you don’t know me very well.
Pancakes are just awesome.
On the left: almond butter and bananas
On the right: peanut butter/maple syrup and bananas
Kyle’s been out of town, so I have been sleeping in, making big batches of pancakes and eating them while watching TV on my computer. So lazy.
Aforementioned “big batches” last me until well after noon. So I figure if I’ve had a few courses of pancakes, it counts as breakfast AND lunch, which means I can skip straight to lunch dessert.
Which has been chocolate with caramel and candied ginger. There’s no greater combo (aside from hummus and [fill in the blank]).
This is how I spend the afternoons. It’s no wonder I have a horrible shorts tan. Note to self: switch to bikini bottoms.
Regardless of how boring it sounds, my solo time has been pretty fun.
It’s funny how that phrase “while the cat’s away…” applies. You see I rarely spend money on myself. I have extreme buyers remorse and feel tons of guilt whenever I do so. Even my impulse WF purchases give me anxiety. And yet, in the three days Kyle was gone I went on a (mini) shopping spree (for clothes no less – so unlike me!) and went out to dinner with friends (back to back nights!). I’m crazy I tell ya.

Anyway.
Now Kyle’s back home and I’m back to my thrifty ways.
However, by the time you’re reading this, the tables will be turned and Kyle will be the one left home alone…to play (or go to class, whatever) while I’m out and about.
I’ve been looking forward to this little trip for SO long.
There are some references to where I’m headed in earlier parts of this post, but here’s one more hint…
It involves my favorite food of all time.
I’m glad you enjoyed your solo time! I’m definitely one of those people that enjoys “me time”
hmmmm, you going to greece? Or somewhere mediterranean?
We’re the same person. I have total buyer’s remorse too – I always feel bad spending money on myself. Aaand I’ve made pancakes too many times to count in the last week. They’re just the best.
I enjoy getting alone time every now and then too and am able to do things that I don’t normally get to do! Are you going somewhere for sabra hummus?? I love that stuff!
Girl, you are showing me up for sure! I haven’t made a single pancake in over a month! I know, who am I?? It just seems that me and the bf are never hungry for breakfast at the same time anymore…when he’s over on the weekends, I’m usually up a couple of hours before him and then he’s usually not hungry for a couple of hours after he gets up. By that time, I’m ready for LUNCH! Haha!
LOVE dark chocolate and candied ginger! I used to be totally addicted to the chocolate covered ginger from WF’s bulk section!
That plate from Real Food Daily has me TOTALLY drooling over here!! Yum! And hello? Is that Tuscan Herb hummus not the best ever?!
Another great post 🙂 BTW, what kind of pancake recipe do you use? I’ve been on the lookout for a basic one with no frills so I can make it to my tastes 🙂
I definitely experience buyers remorse too, not fun. Pancakes over oats?! Crazy, I haven’t strayed from my oats for quite a while now. I’m going to guess your trip has something to do with sabra hummus 😉
i love mornings like that! especially if they involve pancakes! And those pancakes look gooooood! almond butter—yum!! Have fun on your trip! I’m thinking…..hummus??? 🙂 girl after my own heart:) have fun!!
Yum- I haven’t had pancakes in a while- but I usually go through a pancake binge every few months.. peanut butter maple syrup needs to bad part of that next binge for sure!
Wow–I haven’t commented in a while. Anyway, this –> “I have extreme buyers remorse and feel tons of guilt whenever I do so” is so *totally* me! I never buy anything, and get totally nervous and have buyers remorse after going grocery shopping, lol. I always go over my receipt before leaving the store (just in case they rang something up wrong and, gasp!, over charged me) and consider returning half of what I have bought before I leave the building…

Man, we are so the same… buyers remorse? I hear ya – I have SO much trouble spending money on myself 🙂
i hope you get a nice food processor for your wedding. btw, sorry you had a bum weekend. just remember the stress of planning will be all worth it in the end. celebrate love and everything will fall into place!
well, aside from the nut issue we already know we ARE the same person…
yup yup yup
whaaaaa…
a) BB has issues for not taking the opportunity to get in EVERY meal
b) pancake withdrawal!!
c) yes. sabra is magical.
its a secret for now but stay tuned… 😉
yes!!!!!
i wish. but its a mediterranean adventure of sorts…
Glad you left him with a big tub while you are away!
🙂 I think that living in Whole Foods would make the issue a lot better. I mean, we wouldn’t have to buy anything then, right?! We would just live there and eat, and since we wouldn’t ever leave, we wouldn’t have to really “check out” and pay for anything….

yea, i think that sounds fair! ill email john mackey to see how he feels about it.
can you even imagine if your kitchen had bulk bins installed like whole foods with all the dried beans, grains, granolas, and cereals you could ever want. i think if i were a millionaire id do it. id show it off on my episode of “cribs” – ha.
I say we need to become millionaires ASAP and get those bulk bins installed. As well as a hot bar and salad bar. I was at Whole Foods just today and spent at least 5 minutes walking up and down the salad bar and hot bar drooling over everything and reading the ingredients and imagining what I would get to eat if I could afford it…
Let me know what John Mackey says when you hear back. I think he’ll go for it. Totally.
Howdy! Would you mind if I share your blog with my zynga
group? There’s a lot of folks that I think would really appreciate your content.
Please let me know. Many thanks
