After days of fake news (rainy forecasts that weren’t), the storm finally hit us on Monday.
Another day, another acai bowl. I drove to Lahaina again for this guy after my work out at the hotel gym. Per usual, I phoned it in, watching tv on the Bravo app while going through the motions on the elliptical. This is my vacation exercise routine and I love it.
We had a typical morning at the pool, but it got cut a tad short because of some drizzle.
For lunch I had the rest of the acai bowl (that I didn’t finish at breakfast) as well as a maca ball (also from Choice Health bar). I’d been eying it all week and finally went for it.
OHHHHHHHH buddy.
Looks like I’ll be buying 10 more of these before the vacation ends because W O W. It is made with GF sprouted oat groats, cashews, mesquite, maca, himalayan salt, honey, vanilla, coconut oil, cacao, carob, hemp seeds, and coconut flakes. You guys! I have to find a way to replicate these at home. They are unbelievable. Not sweet, but hearty, dense and just a perfect balance of oatmeal flavor with nuttiness.
If you can even believe it, P was asleep and remained so through this dog pile.
Then we had a dance party (because the rain hit hard at that point).
Kyle was the one who braved the storm to go get our dinner – takeaway from Star Noodle.
Soooo, a little backstory. Star Noodle has been our favorite favorite favorite restaurant in all of Maui. Former Top Chef contestant Sheldon used to cook there and they basically have the best food for very affordable prices.
Unfortunately, my high opinion is a little jaded now after this experience. Kyle had to wait over an hour for the food after arriving to pic kit up (when they told us to). On top of that the storm was getting worse and worse and flood warnings were starting. I was nervous Kyle wouldn’t be able to get back to the hotel! And the kids were hungry and after being trapped in the room all day were starting to go bonkers. Oof. My hero of a husband finally got back though and arrived at our door dripping wet because he had to park in the far away lot because the garage lot was flooded and the backed up valet line prevented him from getting to any other closer lots. I’ve never been so relieved to have him back safe and sound (and with food!).
We got the Rib Eye with Ko Chu Butter. It was okay, but not our favorite and we probably wouldn’t order it in the future.
We also got the Singapore Noodles with vermicelli, chicken, shrimp, and vegetables, which we all agreed was the best dish. Amazing flavors, not greasy despite being wok fried. And just plain delicious.
The Miso Salmon is usually one of my favorites, but it was a little overcooked. That’s the problem with ordering fish for take out though, and it was still very very good.
The Filipino “Bacon & Eggs” with Crispy Pork, Poached Egg, Tomato, and Onion was new to me and a runner up for best dish. It was SOOOO salty though. In a crazy good way, but also an I can’t take more than two bites in a row because it’s so rich way.
We were very full by the end, and agreed it was our best meal so far, but it was just such a bummer that we had such problems with the order. Because waiting two hours for take out is kinda ridiculous.
Rain rain go away.
