Do you dream in glossy gourmet pages? Plan your next meal while you’re still eating the current one? No? Just me then…
Well if you happen to be holiday shopping for anyone who shares my obsession with all things food, here are a few ideas.
Presents For Foodies
Cookbooks [some of my favorites]
Clean Food & Clean Start by Terry Walters (delicious meals made with pure wholesome ingredients)
Veganomicon (aka the vegan bible)
The Vegan Slow Cooker (invaluable resource for anyone with a crock pot)
Anything by Isa Chandra Moskowitz, Dreena Burton, Colleen Patrick-Goudreau, or Ani Phyo
Anything in the genre that your particular loved one enjoys most (gluten free, raw, vegan, vegetarian, crock pot, baking bread, pressure cooker, desserts, etc.).
Appliances [I linked to the brand I have]
Immersion blender (the Cuisinart one comes with various attachments if you’re looking for something to work as a food processor too)
Waffle maker (who doesn’t love waffles?)
Crock-pot (there are a million models that are cheaper than mine so it doesn’t have to be a huge request)
Rice cooker (most used appliance in our whole kitchen)
Food processor (my 7 cup Cuisinart is the standard model that comes with all the necessary pieces, kinda a big thing to ask for, but maybe you’ve got a sugar daddy…)
Spiralizer (this is on the inexpensive end of the spectrum and is something you probably wouldn’t buy yourself)
Juicer (a luxury appliance for sure, but I love mine)
Breadmaker (another luxury item, but if you’re interested in breadmaking this makes it idiot proof)
Other ideas: panini press, pressure cooker, vita-mix / blentec blender
Home-made
jams & jellies
pickled items (unless you’re shopping for Kyle)
color-me-mine pottery
baked treats (cookies, granola, etc.)
nut butters
Kombucha kit (Kyle would actually kill me if I got one)
cheese-making kit
mushroom growing kit
Other
fancy knives (we have Wusthof)
nice pots & pans (Cuisinart stainless steel sells sets or individual pieces)
French oven (we love our Staub, but Le Creuset is another choice)
rare spices (check your local spice store for unique blends)
fancy oils (olive oil infused with rosemary, etc.)
Becoming Vegan (a great resource for a newbie)
festive serving ware, funky mugs, & fun bowls (who doesn’t like drinking coffee from cute things like these)
cooking lessons (I still want to do this but haven’t)
gift card to a favorite restaurant (or Whole Foods/Trader Joe’s)
monthly gift box subscriptions (a gift that keeps on giving…for anyone who likes wine/coffee/tea/fruit)
gift card to Sur Le Table, Crate & Barrel, Williams Sonoma, etc.
annual magazine subscription (Vegetarian Times, VegNews, Clean Eating, Bon Appétit, Cook’s Illustrated, etc.)
gift baskets (full of foodie favorites, like nut butter, sauces, oil & vinegars, or even health bars)
These boxes of KIND goodies, for example, are a cute way to snack with purpose since a portion of the proceeds go to charity. KIND has partnered with Arianna Huffington, Bobbi Brown, and Grace Potter for this campaign. Each box has 25 KIND bars (four different flavors). All the charities are great ones, but I especially love that Bobbi Brown’s box will help fund a kitchen at the Broome Street Academy, a free public charter high school in NYC. Plus, it has my two favorite flavors, Dark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt and Cashew & Ginger Spice. So you can treat yourself to healthy snacks while giving back at the same time.
Happy shopping!
Who doesn’t love getting things you’ve always dreamed of using, but you’d probably never get yourself??? Plus it inspires experimentation and creativity…two things I absolutely love!
Cool! .Happy shopping!
Thanks so much for posting this. I’ve wanted a few of these things for quite some time. It’s good to see recommendations.
I would love for you to be my Secret Santa. But we don’t do Secret Santa, so…
Anyway, my gifts from my mom are usually food related, whether it’s a new steamer (I use my a couple times a day, so it’s handy), a new Hot Shot for tea, pans, gift certificates to Harvest Health, etc. We don’t do many gifts and she knows those are what I really want, so I’m really pretty lucky 🙂
“Plan your next meal while you’re still eating the current one?” Totally me! I am eating dinner now and thinking about dinner tomorrow night 🙂 I have it all planned out and I am already craving it!
i thought of you when i wrote that. because i know you are JUST like me in that aspect 🙂
thats so sweet! i love all things related to food, so its impossible to go wrong with any cookbooks or cooking utensils/appliances/etc. we are easy to please 🙂
